Zeev, I believe that the French are the only European Country who have consistently tried to stay engaged in African Affairs. Contrast the "hear no evil see no evil" UK attitude and the pathetic state of its former colony Nigeria. Truly strange that the French have been "ridden out on a rail" in Africa over the last three years.

No I do not believe that the French were "behind" the genocide in Rwanda. It was overpopulation and competition for dwindling resources, and the usual African bug-a-boo tribalism. Now I do believe that Yoweri Museveni of Uganda was definitely behind putting an end to what was going on inRwanda, since I believe that Paul Kagame (current President of Rwanda) and Museveni were roommates in lower schools as kids in Uganda....

Otherwise in the Sudan I still try to educate people on the genocide, murder, mass rape, and slave trading that is going on by the Muslim Fundamentalists- but it sure helped when Madeleine Albright went to east Africa two months ago and put her arm around Guerilla Leader John Garang while in Uganda, and called the current Sudanese Government a "nest of vipers".....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
