Interesting points about MA Bell and ROBC's. It is known as defnesive investing. You invest in stocks that will do OK in times of turmoil and uncertainty. Food, drugs, utilities come in that camp of investing. Normally pay a dividend to boot.

I'm not an advocate of being on margin in this environment. That is for when the dust settles and the future is appearing to be brighter. You then margin in the early stage of a market upturn, not at the end or in periods of uncertainty.

Yes I'm always looking for bargains. Not sure that INTC is one as of yet, nor positive at their prospects for earnings growth for now. BAY is one that sprang up on my radar screen that fit my scenario. Beaten down, but improving earnings plus strong product line for the nextgen of Ethernet expansion, which is 1 Gigabit. They also have an interesting router/switch that may well prove a boon in the Internet. It is tied to ATM. Hugely robust according to write ups and testing. One of the knocks against CSCO has been the problems suffer from latency, is CSCO roouters goin into flapping. I also think QCOM is a bargain right now.
