Hi Emile,
Thanks for your post and scriptures on water baptism. It has reminded me again that my daughter needs to be baptized in water. She's 6 now.

It is interesting that anything that does not agree with your interpretation you call a heresy.
If you care to find out the truth of the matter you will find that water baptism was bound up
with ordinances and signs and was the sign of the Davidic covenant with the Jews. You might
read Ex. 29:4, Ex. 19:5,6, Isa. 61:6 and Matt 3:1-6.
The Gospels are one of progressive revelation and you know that Paul points out that
are saved by Grace alone so your doctrines do "not hold water" so to speak.
This is why the apostle Paul speaks of "my gospel" (Rom. 2:16, 16:25, 11 Tim. 2:8, and uses the term
"the Gospel of the Grace of God.'
Your kind of teaching is what keeps Christians confused and bound up in Judiasm.

James

Thank you very much for your nice post on baptism. I must say that I agree with your interpretation.

"19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Yes, these verses are among my favorites.

Thanks again for your help.

Best wishes,

I2

Greetings Emile, I wholeheartedly agree that your summary of water baptism gives honour to the Word of God, and I believe as you do on this subject. On a different note regarding " infant baptism ", the Israel of God living under the Old Covenant took their child, and on the eigth day the child was circumcized as a sign that they were now the people of God under the Old Covenant. The child had no say in this matter, but it was the responsibility of the parents. We are now living under the New Covenant, built on better promises. I do not fully understand the objections to " infant baptism " under the New Covenant,in light of the circumcision of children under the Old Covenant. I sometimes feel that in our " Protestanism" we have hastily thrown out many spiritual truths brought to Gods people through the use of symbolism. I look forward to hearing your views and from others on this subject. Grace and peace be multiplied to the " Israel of God ". Robert
