I'm not sure Trump is smart enough for this, but if you are a good chess player, his pushing the limits with the Ukraine to get at Biden is sacrificing his queen when you know the senate won't remove him from office for "abuse of power" which congress seems to always accuse presidents of when they take executive action without their oversight. I agree about Pete... He seems decent enough and has some better ideas than Scott Wiener who is trying to move from local SF Politics to our state office power by giving away quality of life of homeowners in single family neighborhoods to losers like him... er I mean people who can't afford to live there but want to so they would have forced us to accept apartments on single family lots as a state law... I've spent more time fighting him than worrying about Trump or Biden or Liz or Bernie!
