Hi Glenn. Article in today's NYTimes, 1/25/98, titled "Choosing Between Phone and Cable for Internet Access." After discussing potential direct investments on the Wintel/CPQ DSL play, the article next develops the concept of derivative beneficiaries:

"Companies that supply Internet-related equipment to Baby Bells may also see business surge if the alliance prevails. Analysts mentioned Lucent, Northern Telecom, Motorola, Newbridge Networks and Bay Networks as some big potential beneficiaries."

I'm half happy and half pissed about this paragraph. I'm half happy because ASND -- with some 25% of the ATM market share and a killer new ATM product -- will itself be a big beneficiary. I'm half pissed because ASND wasn't mentioned. The company certainly could use something in the way of better public relations or advertising about its products. Let's spend just a few dollars on that, ok?

Bottom line: The news is great. Why not spread the word?

Glenn

What is this EVEREN and SOUNDVIEW are trying to do ? Death by a thousand small cuts?

I could see revising earnings for an imminent Q earning but these are 14 months out? It would seem that the LT Growth rate decreasing 17% would have more of an effect that a penny a quarter?

Rather puny CYA, IMO.
