I'm skeptical of any "excuse" to raise taxes to redistribute wealth based on how someone who didn't earn the money thinks it should be spent.

As for Tesla, this is one reason I'm not fond of any of the "new tech" as it seems to hold you hostage after purchase.

I used to be able to buy Quicken and keep the software for years until they would not support downloading updates from my banks and brokerages. Now they've scrapped that and force an annual subscription that will cost 3x as much.

MSFT already did that with Word and Excel forcing users to pay for upgrades and updates they probably don't need... some features of Excel STILL are inferior to past versions that let me import market data from MSN automatically whereas now I still have to import some by hand.
