The calculations were not done by the reporter. And yeah, they could be wildly inaccurate; it was just an attempt to see what might be happening.

I don't believe the J.H. myself. They are just using the numbers given by the Chicoms.. In post #703070, I pointed out how J.H. got rid of their blog. In the 1-31 post they said they believed there were really 50,000 infections. It's all gone now

Then we have this guy from the Abdul Latif Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics (J-IDEA), who says 50,000 a day.

As for the US, we're in somewhat better shape, but there won't be any N95 masks around for the public for quite a while. If we're lucky, it won't get here before summer when virus don't have the impact they have in winter. That will give us 6 months breathing time... I hope.
