My biggest fear is what happens after his strong personality is missing on the Right.

It's mine also. My best guess right now is Jr. The left will scream, "Nepotism." They pushed the Kennedy drunks for decades.

Agree with what you expect re the 2020 election.

The Democrats are dying anyway. That trend was already established well before Trump emerged as a swamp warrior... able to navigate the tricks and traps of D.C. as well as the Swamp Fox... Francis Marion. Trump has not caused the defect that's killing them... they've done that to themselves... he's merely exposed it in a far more theatrical way than you'd otherwise expect from being fed the pabulum by Peggy Noonan Republicans... or tolerating the lies, self loathing and surrender of RINO Republicans enabling them.

Again, study the history of the Federalists... noting not only why they failed... but how the failure played out over time, in public perception, and through the election cycles... They didn't just disappear in one election.
To fully understand why they did... you also have to have an appreciation of the impact that Andrew Jackson's unexpected victory in the Battle of New Orleans had on the young nation... with an understanding of the context in which that event occurred being required to understand the political positioning of the day...

Have lost track of it now, so can't provide the link... but recently saw another leftist polemic of the sort that goes beyond "orange man bad" to embrace, for Democrats, posing as their "thought leader"... the idea, so often repeated on the left, that "throughout all of American history, things have never been worse"... that "America has never been so divided". Beyond the breathless exhortations to the need for (others) to embrace even greater extremism, with every effort justified, as needed, to "defeat" the other side and its "evil"... including inducements to violence...which are the natural and probably intended object of that style of "journalism" ? As a matter of historical accuracy... it's total bullshit.

Refer again to Rosenthal's "American Aurora"... as a well grounded, realistic and overwhelmingly authoritative and painfully well documented source... that easily counters and then decimates more than a century of leftist re-invention of American history. It is simply not possible to refute Rosenthal... as his work is largely not a distillation that tortures or "spins" primary sources in service of a narrative... but is instead a direct presentation of the primary sources set in proper context. Using contemporaneous extracts from the competing partisan presses, their editors and journalists, he crafts a story of partisan conflict, that is equally as extreme as the lunacy of the left today... "American Aurora" doesn't follow the thread of the story from the Revolution and the early days of the Republic all the way through to the events that had Federalists opt to commit political suicide... but it clearly sets up an necessary awareness of the context for that event... and as you read it, you can easily see how the background it presents might have soon led them over that cliff...

Among the most glaring of the weaknesses Democrats have imposed on themselves... is that seen in not making proper sense of their operationalizing the worst deficiencies of their core "theories"... Putting the faux morality of identity (race, gender, orientation, etc.) based social promotion ahead of merit when selecting their own leadership (as tolerance does not require the surrender of judgment), has them cluelessly driving themselves to the most extreme ideological edge, first, before deliberately accelerating the party over the cliffs edge of social relevancy. Still believing in the power of their own moral superiority, even in its glaring blindness to their abject, overt and transparent corruption, still expecting others blindness to their own faux moral superiority will enable them in defying gravity ? That choice, already made, has them screaming, now, "I was right... orange man bad"... even as the whistling noise of the vertical wind accelerates in their ears.

Already, you can see that recognition welling up in them, as their life begins passing before their eyes... forcing some greater awareness to the fore, in the wake of their own attempted rape of Justice Kavanaugh, that, yes, in their self delusion and lack of judgement, they gladly and blindly inflicted on us a misogynist rapist as President, cravenly sustaining him for eight years... then promoting his even more evil sidekick for years more... as she vastly expanded the reach of corruption to the very (dark) heart of the party... all while wrongly and knowingly accusing the guiltless of worse, while doing far worse. With that revealed awareness they should own the self loathing they've earned in their responsibility... and in their recognition know they should (and will) pay a penance... along with the direct costs of the corrections of past errors. But, this is early days yet, with so much more yet to be realized as the process of acceleration into the fall extracts more truth and greater self awareness in equal measures... at an accelerating pace.

Trump has not imposed any of that on them... they've chosen it. All Trump has done is egg them on into the fullest expression of their derangement... while luring them to the highest possible point at the sheerest undercut on the cliffs edge... thus altering the likely outcome of the failure they're volunteering to impose on themselves.

Taken in its entirety, that set of choices enables an event for which we should thank them, actually, for having first tested their maladaptive social theories within the confines of their own party leadership, before succeeding more generally in imposing the natural consequences of their corruption and failed choices on the rest of us... while seeking to impose greater rigor in the controls (2nd Amendment) imposed over the rest of us that they know would be required to successfully drag us over that cliff's edge with them...

But, required in enabling that enormous mass in errors is their abject ignorance in histor-illiteracy... the compounded long term impact of accumulated "fake news"... as it is paired with a blind spot large enough to drive an entire political party through. The lack of connection to historical truth... is easily seen as a thread concurrently connecting to having them entirely detached from obvious facts and the truth in our reality, now. Non-delusional observers.. seeing the news of the day being fictionalized on the fly, as required... note the increasingly fantastic fabrications now lasting mere hours before being exposed as obvious frauds... the acceleration of "history in the making"... exposing itself, in the reflection of truth, as something else entirely. That effort in fictionalization quite naturally accompanies, more over time, and more obviously with the parallel in accelerations in the refutations keeping pace, the exposure of a manufactured narrative that is as equally disconnected from reality concurrently... and historically... as it is from itself in its logical inconsistencies.

The missive from Santayana that "those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it" still assumes that the doom proceeds from a lack of focus or a failure in memory is, at worst, an artifact of distraction or oversight... not that it is manufactured by a deliberate choice of ignorance tied to an effort in fictionalizing reality, and a falsified narrative to explain it, with history itself being only a reservoir of "alternative facts" that have "already been debunked".

When you clearly see the nature of the construct... it becomes clear enough that there is no possible way it can survive, much less succeed...

Trump is toying with them... like a cat with a moth...
