Great idea Tim - I'll start off: 1) Revenue will be down more than most of us think (reasons: haven't heard any big annoucements this Q, sources who have talked to Bob and Tom say they are not hyping sales, no quantitative positive pre-announcments; the blame will be placed on: SEA slowdown, product transition, a few big sales not closing and falling over into the next Q, etc.) 2) One almost big announcement about TradeWave used as a red herring to try to mitigate the odor of the down revenue Q. 3) Proclamation that profitability will still be one to two Q's out due to reasons cited in 1) 4) Possibly some blockbuster announcement as I believe there are two more coming after the TradeWave release. Other possibility is an annoucement very weird in nature but we need to wait until the end of the week to see about this one. 5) Not much price movement to the downside (as you might expect after seeing CHKPF drop after another blow-out Q). Seems the firewallers still have enough upside potential that they can hold their sky-high PE's even though most are not making $$ yet. Note: I had no time to talk with BC last week so these comments are strictly based on data points gathered, telecons with several followers and gut feeling. Hope I'm wrong with sales hitting a new high, MSFT inking an OEM deal for the SecureGuard product, GTE signing a huge deal with TradeWave and Cisco deciding CYBG's firewall provides the ultimate security it needs and decides to bundle it with every piece of hardware sold. Hahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha! ------------------------- Back again - just read Jan 19 issue of InfoWorld - page S12 "Network Software" section of the "Best of the Test Center". This article provides a look at the product testers and "1997's hottest Comparisons and Product Reviews" - these are the Analyst Chioce award winners for 1997. Lo and behold - "Cyberguard 4.0 for UnixWare" selected. No CHKPF, TISX, SCUR or RAPT or any other firewaller for that matter. The article reads: Reviewed by Mark Jospeh Edwards - Nov. 17, 1997, page 98C: "Cyberguard 4.0 for UnixWare is an NCSA-certified firewall that boasts a truly impressive feature set. PROS: B1 security rating based on the DOD Orange Book standards; easy-to-use interface; outstanding access control; supports SNMP and Ntework Address Translation; year-2000 compliance for GUI, operating system, and file system. CONS: Pricey" Interesting - couldn't find CHKPF mentioned anywhere in the article. Seems Triant's marketing bullshit (some call it acumen) is the driver behind that technology. Pricey they say? How can anyone haggle price when we're talking about ultimate security?
