I am a firm believer in the chain of command, Andrew. But Clinton needs to handle this crisis quickly--either (1) effectively refute the criminal allegations, (2) admit them, apologize profusely, beg for his job and fall on the mercy and fairness of the American people, OR (3) resign and get out of the way. A long, tortured twisting in the wind would throw the country into chaos, in my very humble opinion. My guess is that unless the situation is resolved soon, Democratic leaders will be forced to come to him and ask him to resign for the good of the country.
