Most viruses survive longer in cold weather, increasing the time they have to infect new hosts.

Cold temperature hardens the viral coating into a rubbery gel, while heat liquefies the viral coating leaving the virus unable to survive long outside a host - infectioncontroltoday.com

Other pathogens like Salmonella and Cholera survive outside a host far longer in warm or hot weather. A change in the genome encoding the viral shell could likewise render that virus as resistant to hot weather as cold.
.

The theory popular with Mothers, that cold weather reduces immunity and sweaters are protective against disease, is only applicable in limited circumstances.

elmat this is a treatment for the flu that i have used for 30 to 40 years .
This is to be done on the first night of fever .

Rinse a pair of thin socks in cold water squeeze out excess water and put socks on . Over them put a heavier woolen sock . Go to sleep .

In the morning socks are dry and fever is gone . My flu's have all been cured after 1 treatment .

Cheers !
