(1)The period and the comma are ALWAYS placed within the quotation marks. (2)The colon and the semicolon are ALWAYS placed outside the quotation marks. (3)The dash, the question mark, and the exclamation point are ALWAYS placed within the quotation marks when they apply to the quoted matter only; outside when they refer to the whole sentence. Tell your "editors" that this is the ONLY correct usage. No joke. Stephen
