Well, at least the liberals are hoping there will be an inhabitable planet for their grandchildren to scrape out a living on, and trying to figure out what to do about global warming and pollution, instead of just raping and pillaging the earth for their own profit. About 20-25 years ago, everyone was worried about global cooling. Check it out. Has that much changed in 20 years. Any change in the environment in that time has probably been for the better, and now they're talking about global warming. Of the 1000+ "scientists" who signed some document from the Clinton administration (I forget the particulars, but it's probably on the net too - I've read it in several places) only a handful have any expertise in climates, weather, or anything related to global warming. The rest are social scientists, doctors, engineers of every kind, etc, ie scientists yes, but people who would know any more about global warming than you or me, no. Another example of Clinton's cunning linguism. As an example of how swell Clintonians (namely Carole Browner) are managing our environment, do a little studying on MTBE. We are now required to have it in our gas in CA, and as a result are paying much higher prices than most of the country ($1.47/gallon for 87 octane where I live) even though the stuff used to be a by-product that the oil companies had to pay to dispose of. This is supposed to decrease air pollution by somthing like 10%, but it also decreases gas mileage by about the same percent. But the really bad part is that it is contaminating our water supply. The stuff is water soluable and they haven't figured out a way to get it out of the water. It gets in the water through leaks and spills, as well as via rain. Some areas have had to start importing water because their own wells and groundwater are way, way, way above the allowed limit of MTBE. So now even politicians like Barbara the bouncer Boxer are saying that we should be allowed to take it out of our gas. Funny thing about this issue is that it is one that was on conservative talk radio in the Bay Area for over a year and was scoffed at in the mainstream press until the last few months. Now even the ultra liberal S.F. Chronicle is on the MTBE bandwagon. Sounds unbelievable but is absolutely true. P.s. I just looked at your profile, and you are from S.F., so you probably know all this stuff, but I'll keep it posted for the benefit of all the poor people who don't get to live in California.
