re: income redistribution

IMHO the liberals use an apparent environmental crisis to try to disable our economy. That is what would happen had Gore been able to push thru the Clean Air treaty in Kyoto. A crippled economy will naturally make FAR more people dependent upon the Government. However, the Government would have access to far less $$ because fewer people would be paying taxes and the tax revenues would decrease due to lower average earnings. (Kind of the opposite of what we have experienced recently with unexpectedly high receipts at Treasury). With the combination of higher demand for Gov't services and lower revenues tax rates would have to be increased for the needy and especially the children of needy families. These higher taxes would further cripple the economy and the spiral would continue ever downward. This would lead to Gov't intervention (ie. a "planned" economy to make sure resoources were applied to critical items (as determined by the Gov't)). If you want to learn how they do it I would suggest Dr. Thomas Sowell's (sp?) book "The Vision of the Annointed"

I'm sorry I don't write well & am not articulate enough to explain the positions well, but I hope this helps some.
My opinion only.
