There is a "grant price" and a "last date to exercise." So, while the terminology isn't the same, there are still parameters. For example, my wife's Delta "grant price" was $69 and her last date to exercise is 10/29/06. If the stock price is only $68 at that time, her options will be worthless. Oh, and trust me, after they were "granted" to her, the stock price immediately dropped to the high 30's. Delta didn't reprice, but today the stock price is $114.
