UBS Downgrade Press Release - RESEARCH ALERT - DSC Communications <DIGI.O> cut NEW YORK, Jan 26 (Reuters) - UBS Securities said on Monday it lowered its rating on shares of DSC Communications Corp to hold from buy based on less conviction about the company's 1998 earnings outlook. -- Recent positive developments like the spinoff of Airspan and a distribution pact with Siemens AG <SIEG.F> will help 1998 outlook, but higher costs related to Cellcore acquisition and potential lower sales to MCI Communications Corp <MCIC.O> due to pending WorldCom Inc <WCOM.O> merger will offset some positives, analyst Nikos Theodosopoulos said. -- Reduced 1998 earnings estimate to $1.20 per share from $1.40 per share. -- However, Theodosopoulos said the company remains an acquisition candidate in 1998, which limits downside risk. -- Stock down 1-3/16 to 19-1/4.
