i do not feel as strongly as you do on the oil situation. i am not fully informed as to the full understanding of why the reaction was taken by saudi. the understanding from the press was russia was selling large volume of fuel at a lower cost vs what the opec nations were attempting to hold. this has been ongoing. Saudi dropped their price to compete against russia to reduce supply. this also works against high cost suppliers.

i expect us the consumer we will benefit from lower cost gasoline/heating in the meantime. The timing is noise imo and came along with the virus problem.

as to the author, he seems to have written a very emotional article. i am not sure he is not bias. here is bio

i do not see, that he is part of any oil/ gov't organizations who would be working on these problems.
