Interesting link and article. Thanks. The "Web Tone" sure sounds like xDSL. Constant connection in the background is one of the highlights they're pointing to for the "Universal" ADSL standard they're coming up with. More discussion is on the PAIR and Aware threads.

Earlier, someone asked how DSL might fit with Cisco's business. I replied that one was a delivery technique, the other a director of traffic, (or some such quick reply). Now I am wondering if there may be more of an issue here. Shouldn't CSCO be in the DSL market as it comes to fruition, because telcos would prefer to buy just one box in their home offices, to receive data from the customer, translate it and get it started in the right direction?

What is CSCO's position in xDSL? anyone know?
