First, the Reps held both legislative chambers and the Presidency under Eisenhower for periods in the 1950's. There was no depression.

Return to 1930's? Better hope not. Remember, the New Deal did little to get us out of the Great Depression.

Only war did that.

And remember we have a better Fed this time and that it's the Dems that would resurrect Smoot, if anyone.

Rick,
A columnist I read in the local paper has said there is a depression coming and it can't be avoided. The reason is global deflation, and we know that is a problem right now. So the Dems may just let the Republicans have it so when the depression comes they will get the blame. If the dems can't get someone better than Gore they are giving it away, but on the other hand the Republicans are a pathetic lot also. Bob
