You're correct on all counts. We only have a single case just reported in our rural NC county, but no doubt there are more undetected. I'm 75 and in excellent health overall with no underlying conditions, walk my dogs 5-6 miles daily, take a bunch of supplements including Vitamin D to a blood level of 80 ng/dL, etc. My problem is that my wife is 72 and has asthma which ""may" be an underlying condition and is recovering from myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). I'm her care-giver, grocery shopper, house cleaner, etc so it's especially important I not bring virus home and stay healthy to care for her.

I have a reasonable stock of N95s (from 2003) and rubber gloves but have not been using them so far due to no cases being reported (until Friday). I will now use them sparingly for weekly shopping trips only. Meanwhile I wear fabric gloves which I disinfect with Lysol afterwards and shop only when the grocery store first opens. I'm also very vigilant and my ears are tuned for any coughing, sneezing, wheezing sounds (so far NONE). People here are observing the CDC guidelines very faithfully. This region is a throwback to the times when everyone had faith in God, obeyed public authority, and had strong families. Our church recently added streaming capability so we can watch Sunday services and Wednesday Bible study from the safety of our home.

I've added a few immunity-enhancing supplements until the contagion danger passes. Astrolagus and Quercetin are poor man's equivalents to hydroxychloroquine and AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound) is a natural killer (NK) cell enhancer made in Japan from Shitake mushrooms. I also make my own sauerkraut and L.reuteri 6475 yogurt for prebiotics. I have available a supply of zinc and selenium tablets and Cold-EEZE lozenges which are supposed to kill viruses if you take them immediately if exposed (like if someone sneezes hear you...yuck).

Other than that we're just trusting in God. We have the "peace that passeth understanding" (Philippians 4:7) and know where we're going no matter what happens.

Number of COVID-19 cases in Santa Clara County (where I live) jumps by more than one-third in 24 hours

District Attorney asks citizens to report non-essential businesses

SAN JOSE — Santa Clara County saw 67 new cases of coronavirus in a single day, a jump of more than 33 percent from Friday, which brings the total amount of known cases to 263, county officials announced Saturday.

Though officials say the sharp increase in cases could be in part due to a greater testing capacity, it has prompted the Santa Clara District Attorney to ask residents to report people and businesses that are in violation of the county’s shelter in place order.

“This increased case count is not unexpected given community transmission, an increase in provider reporting, and growing testing capacity through the commercial market,” the news release says.
The good news:
The death toll in Santa Clara County remains at eight.
