nrz along with lots of other mreits have gotten clobbered. I am hoping the selling is overdone for several reasons. they are a large originator and servicer of mortgages and i believe that if the government wont provide 0 interest loans to make up the shortfall for mortgages where people stop making payments then there will be no origination or refinance of mortgage loans, it will come to a dead stop. the manager of nrz is fig which is owned by softbank so there is no shortage of financing available. there was insider buying in mid march and on the last investor update which was i think march 12 the ceo said the company was in great shape. of course the stock went down by 50% two days later and he has been mum since. It looks like that will hold off paying the first quarter dividend as they have made no announcement about it so that would be a negative. I am also hoping the selling in stwd is overdone as well .The guy who runs it is a great real estate operator. this may be a company that can take advantage of turbulence in the commercial real estate market. thoughts? BTW I think the 15 minute virus test may help the recovery a great deal. give it to anyone who wants to enter a casino or go on a flight or take a cruise. people who get off the boat need to be tested daily. might save the cruise industry.
