The NIH is doing a quick trial of Actemra (tocilizumab) which blocks the IL-6 receptor and Roche/Genentech has donated a million doses. The injection is safe and most often used to treat arthritis. This is a very real treatment to curtail excess immune response in people who become extremely ill with the Covid/SARS virus.

I think a similar drug,Humira, which inactivates TNF-a would have a similar but more selective effect.

Not purchasing Covid/SARS tests in January, as Germany, South Korea, Australia and many other nations did has proved predictably catastrophic. It's very difficult to respond to an epidemic when the nation's dictator believes it's a hoax.

While quick tests for Covid/SARS are very real, quick tests won't be available in the immense numbers now needed for another month or two, even though additional machines are being added to on an hourly basis, along with people being trained to operate the machines. They're all being installed in reference labs and hospitals at the heart of the pandemic.

I think it's safe to say we'll finally be caught up back to where we should have been, ready for the pandemic, around September or so. By September of 2021 we'll hopefully have a vaccine.

We'll sooner reach an ongoing low grade pandemic like China where many businesses can be reopened with masks being required along with social distancing and other protective measures -that is if it's possible to source enough masks by that time. Predictably the Keystone Cops in the White House are discussing requiring cosmetic cloth masks which provide virtually no protection because they can't think of a way to get real masks in time.

This is a real N100 / P100 3M respirator I wear to go grocery shopping. The electret in the filter is statically charged, attracting 99.97% of all particles including those as small as a virus. It's comfortable and fashionable given the times. The sort of protection actually needed until you're vaccinated.
