I believe you, I was raised an atheist, that’s not even agnostic. Our decisions and volition do make a difference, we are not just robots following a pre-written program, and things change in our lives and in the lives of those we interact with based on our actions.

If we have free will which i agree on everything cant be divinely ordained. Someone could decide to hurt or even kill you of their free will so that would not be ordained. Thats why bad things happen to good people. Luck and chance play a huge role in our lives.
