Daniel, the answer is no, and that's why CREAF has positioned itself to be the leader in high, mid range, and low end audio. Not to mention 2d/3d, speakers, DVD, and videophones.

BTW, the guy came out today to install a new hard drive on my DELL. Puts it in, still doesn't work. Turns out the problem is incompatibility with the CD-Rom drive! How much sense does that make?

Daniel, I agree, however, I have many friends who just love playing games on their computer and really want quality sound. Also I can envision in the future when software (with the advent of DVD) looks more and more like interactive video games, quality sound will be in high demand.

I just hope in the future, in their quest for growth, Intel doesn't decide to enter this market in a big way similar to Chip's and Technology. Of course I wouldn't complain if they offered 40 for CREAF :-)

Mike

The answer is yes! High quality computer peripherals is where the money is. The under $1,000 computer explosion doesn't just get the computer in the door, they get the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th computers in the door. When one of these additional computers ends up in the hands of a testosterone juiced teenager with an addiction to adrenaline rushes, reasonable expenses to supply the habit is no problem. Read your December issue of Computer Gaming World; the #2 item listed under hardware buyer's guide is:

Cambridge PC Works, $99.95
Cambridge SoundWorks has made quite a name for itself over the last several years. They, along with a few other speaker makers, have redefined the quality of the audio put out by PCs. But, like most other things, bringing that kind of quality home would set you back more than a few shekels. Well, not anymore.
Cambridge SoundWorks recently introduced PC Works, a $99 satelites-woofer combination that delivers solid performance for game audio and music. And while the PC Works won't rattle the rafters, it does put out enough sound to comfortably fill the room; and it still sounds good at lower volume levels as well.

CREAF knows gaming; gamers bought their early Soundblasters and put them on the map in the first place.

Best of luck,

Steve
