''She has received a subpoena,'' said one source, who said Lieberman was to be questioned about her role in finding a Pentagon job for Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern who is at the center of a sex scandal involving President Clinton.

According to one administration official, when Lieberman was deputy chief of staff at the White House she had Lewinsky moved into a paying job at the Pentagon because of ''the way she was behaving.''

Another official said Lieberman was upset that Lewinsky ''was hanging around the West Wing trying to run into Clinton'' and found a job that took her out of the White House. Lewinsky ''was being flirtatious... and it upset Evelyn.''

Actually, David, the warning label was first printed on cigarette packages in January 1965, at the behest of the then Surgeon General. At the time, most applauded the warning label and made it a point to ensure the cigarettes they purchased included it, thereby attesting to the freshness of those cigarettes. at that time, about 70% of the population smoked.

BTW, the fellow who pushed so hard for the cigarette warning labels died at the quite young age of (I believe) 61.
