The death rate per case identified for these countries is 4.1% which is less than the overall world average of 6% but the US death rate is slightly lower than both at 3.6%. So …. the US has shut down its entire economy because of the coronavirus based on 17,000 deaths (which is less than this year’s deaths related to the flu) and only 150 deaths where individuals had no other pre-existing conditions? Hmmm…So why are we committing economic suicide again?

Speaking of reported deaths, it occurred to me to wonder what death count is being reported for the regular, non-Covid19, seasonal flu. Getting to the CDC website, I see estimated flu deaths reported for the period Oct. 1, 2019 through April 4, 2020 to be 24,000 - 62,000. I don't know, is it just me, or does this seem like a fairly broad range? And given that flu season is pretty much over, when do they pick a number to report as "died from seasonal flu during the 2019-20 flu season"? What do they do, just pick the mid-point of their estimated range? Just wondering.... cdc.gov

Good article. Recommend watching the ~15 minute video linked in the article with the physician discussing the CDC guidelines on completing the death certificate to assign COV19 cause of death. Also, one of the comments to the article: PerArdua1d Maybe it's just because I'm getting older and grouchier, but I have lost at least a half-dozen friends over this despicable farce. These are people who cower in their homes, call out neighbors for violating "safety distance" rules, and call police on kids playing baseball in the park. These jackasses never served their country in any meaningful way and they are perfectly willing to give up the civil rights that I- and my father - and my father's father - risked our lives to provide them. Small town police officers and sheriffs - neighborhood busybodys - even grocery store clerks -are turning into Stasi thugs and informants - and I have grown to detest the sight of these spineless cowards. This fear-mongering won't last forever, but when it's over, a number of relationships will have been irreparably damaged. This sorry episode has revealed in the worst possible light who the sheep are - and from now on, they can bleat among themselves
