Possibly the Worse installation program of any OS I have ever seen

Oops, I didn't mean to start an OS/2 discussion but have you tried installing Warp 4? It is much enhanced and has a CD full of drivers.
I feel kind of bad for OS/2 and I'm not using it now because of the CAD programs I need to run. For stability though NT amd OS/2 are very close and I'm fiding NT is working great for me.

Dave,

RMX from Intel was the first real multi-tasking, protected mode OS for the PC plus it was a true real-time system and not just time-sliced. You could run Windows under it as a task until Windows3.1 took over the supervisory mode. Unfortunately it was designed for embedded-systems use and had what we used to call the "inhuman interface" for loading applications. Far too expensive for the normal user to even consider buying. The history of RMX also shows why the segmented architecture was used on the x86, etc.

Sorry just rambling,

Norm
