There are various "can't compete against private industry" prohibitions in place regarding government activity. I don't know how and where that would apply here. Given that among the occupants of all those seats in Congress and in the Senate are, there are many who are barely above the common criminal class, I doubt this will ever result in the gov. actually making any money. This would get diverted into gain for some private entity that paid for their "support". But the idea of banking oil for future needs at a price about as close to free as its going to get is a good one. lh
