Respond to of 26440 Yes, I certainly don't begrudge giving citizens a safety net if you are giving businesses one. This is going to be a repeat of 08 in hindsight, I'm afraid. One of the standards I hold myself against is this...if I'm going to complain about something, at least offer a potential solution. We have a country severely divided by ideology, with each political party leaning to the extreme of each issue. I think it's time we had a discussion about emergency plans - have parameters in place for short term programs that could be pulled out and voted on when we have faced with events like this (Black Swan type events). If you take the time to developed emergency plans ahead of time, obviously much more thought would be put into them, and they would provide less opportunity for people who just want to scam the system. Become proactive rather than reactive. Obviously it would be much more complicated than that, but it's a place to start, regardless. I'm sorry, but I cannot come down on the side of an idea that only seeks to save big banks and companies but begrudges giving help to individuals. I'm also well aware of moral hazard - I don't need to be lectured on that. I believe in science, but again, that doesn't make me a socialist. It's funny how people assign all sorts of labels to you if you believe in science. Actually it's not funny...it's unfortunately a microcosm of where we seem to be as a country right now. A large part of my net worth, and income, is tied to real estate, both residential and commercial. I also won't be evicting anyone who legitimately can't pay their rent right now. Not every landlord is in my position, and I have a lot of sympathy for both sides. Capitalism doesn't have to be immoral. I"m glad you've created a space where we can, for the most part, have intelligent conversations about the issues we are facing...and will continue to face because of all the printing going on. It's much appreciated, at least by me. Be well, Kirk! Best, Kim
