We are so far short of testing needs in California that the number of cases reported is worthless for anything other than counting how many tests we have. They are still screening people for symptoms to get the tests so the many of us that may have had it but lack or lacked a fever, for example, are untested.

Stories are showing up in the papers here about people sent away from hospitals with only minor help before they had to return later with worse symptoms after it was too late and they died.

The coroner is looking at other recent deaths now to examine the bodies and many are showing up with Covid-19 for things that killed people much sooner than one would expect. Also I read the death rate attributed to "the flu" rather than Covid-19 is about 25% higher than last year's flu season so they may capture more of those deaths if the bodies are still available.
