Wow, that is an interesting story! Two sets of pandemic twins.

Interesting that he talked about the War.
Philip served in an Army aerial unit in the Pacific during World War II, participating in the Battle of Iwo Jima and later in firebombing raids over Japan. He also helped make aerial surveys after the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He earned two bronze stars.

My father trained for the same job with the Navy, take photographs after missions in Korea, but that war ended before he shipped out so he was released, came home, got married and made me. My dad talked very little about his service, even near the end of his life but he was very proud. Next to being a father, I think it was his proudest accomplishment. His and my mother's ashes are stored in a vet's vault overlooking the ocean. I kept his flag that he got from our congressman that was flown over the Capitol and fly it on July 4th and Veteran's Day in his honor... a nice memory.
Now I'm happy we're giving respect to health care workers who show up every day while most of us are safely sheltering at home.... for the most part. Even cashiers at stores are getting extra respect. It is nice to see honest work honored, something I hope continues.
