I asked when will they will remove the plates... No reply yet, but they'll take the screws too I think as it has happened with friends. When I broke my fibula windsurfing, they put in three screws but no plate so I got to keep the screws as a souvenir. She'll probably need another operation to remove them and then more healing time...
