Chris you are getting closer to my perception , keep going !

Incidently your IBM chart is informative but would be more so if you would overlay IBM's significant movements with event/dates notes.

To your chart notes also add event/dates related to IBM like option expirations , published insider activity , and almost forgot, <g>"full moon" .

On the time bar place future events which may impact IBM's "trend" like : Winter Olympics , dividend declared/earned , annual report mailing , earnings due , COMMON , LG's 5th annual meeting etc.

My humble suggestion for its name :"IBM for DUMMIES" , then head over to the copyright office and pays your fee : >)
