Gary-- By no means do I claim to have the answers. The other day I had heard a program discussing the problem. The guests were involved with various industry groups and presently working on solutions. The feeling amongst the group was the problem is not so much a US problem as it will be for other countries. Nevertheless there is clearly going to be some repurcussions for those that fail to prepare.

As for the self-fulfilling part. It is simple. If everyone with any money anticipates waking up new years day, Y2k and discovers because of a computer glitch their funds are not available, the wise thing to do is to pull out ahead of time. This alone could cause a run on the banks, no?

BTW, there is a y2k thread somewhere here.
