You probably won't want to get into this but I've got to ask......at what price would you consider another out of the money call play? 25? It's apparent that I can't call the lows...I'm down 100k on this stock since Comdex.

If the deal is completed (and I for one think another bidder (Dell) may emerge), what is Dell's likely reaction and will it be effective? On the topic of integrating the two companies, too much hype has developed over the so called culture clash between the two. I can state with complete confidence that there will be such a clash. However, it will be used as a catalyst to jettison a majority of the layoffs expected. Expect an intially disappointing (to the Street) round of DEC layoffs in March (I predict about 2K-3K) followed by the majority of layoffs (another 7K-9K) as part of a restructuring within a month of completing the deal in June. Compaq will encourage many in management to leave with its high-handedness and better-than-thou attitude (justified considering the ineptness of DEC management). Key personnel however will be wooed with hefty bonuses and more freedom. IMHO - Compaq could screw up the merger and still come out ahead. OB
