Since you obviously don't recall, she resigned to avoid court-marshall and perhaps greater sanction for disobeying direct orders. Following orders - that's what they're supposed to do in the military.

Of course I remember. One doesn't have to be a mental giant like you; after all it happened only a few months ago. Even more appalling was the earlier case of the female officer (separated from her husband) who had an affair with an enlisted man and was court-martialled. She shot herself the same day.

And the candidate for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, whose nomination was withdrawn because he'd had an affair (not with an enlisted person) fifteen years early, while separated from his wife.

A witch hunt. And yes, there's been a great deal of objection to it.
