The 316 delegates attending the SMG 24 bis meeting, representing telecoms manufacturers, operators, administrations and research bodies, agreed on the following technical solution: In the paired band (FDD - Frequency Division Duplex) of UMTS the system adopts the radio access technique formerly proposed by the W-CDMA group. In the unpaired band (TDD - Time Division Duplex) the UMTS system adopts the radio access technique proposed formerly by the TD-CDMA group.
