I think you guys blow this nomenclature problem way out of proportion.

FPM, EDO, BEDO, Synchronous and Rambus are just the system interfaces.
The basic DRAM cell is the same. The fabrication process is the same. The fabrication equipment is the same.

When people are talking about long term roadmaps for DRAM, they often PURPOSELY are vague on the system interface, because requirements frequently change. SDRAM is all the rage now, but Rambus will probably take over eventually. Or maybe Intel will come up with yet another standard.
