7/17/2020 Contest update (Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.) Biotechs had a big week, with vaccine stocks as well as the entire sector gaining investor attention as COVID-19 cases continued to surge. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 14.99% YTD (vs. up 10.44% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 21.80% YTD (vs. up 17.221% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 27.10% YTD (vs. up 22.97% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 16.43% YTD (vs. up 17.70% YTD a week ago). FILO’s portfolio, up 134.08% YTD, remained Contest leader, with second place JBOG’s portfolio, up 125.25% YTD, closing the gap. And once again there’s a switch in third place, as TDERBY’s portfolio, up 68.90% YTD, takes the slot with big boost from VBIV. At Friday's close, 30 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 16 beating the NBI and the same 16 beating the SPSIBI. The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 28.40% and a YTD median gain of 3.24%. Below is the Top Ten list.
