7/24/2020 Contest update (Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.) Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV. China. Those were the week’s most memorable six words, but only the last cognitively challenged investors. Meanwhile, it was not a happy week for the biotech sector. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 8.41% YTD (vs. up 14.99% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 15.33% YTD (vs. up 21.80% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 19.98% YTD (vs. up 27.10% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 14.88% YTD (vs. up 16.43% YTD a week ago). FILO’s portfolio, up 123.70% YTD, held on to first place, with JBOG’s portfolio, up 112.60% YTD, continuing in second place. Third place switched again, as YVR’s’s portfolio, up 57.64% YTD, moved into the spot with a little help from CAPR. At Friday's close, 28 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 18 beating the NBI and 16 still beating the SPSIBI. The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 24.97% with the YTD median now going negative with a loss of -1.22%. Below is the Top Ten list.
