Dio -- Yeah, but most prosecutors aren't as acutely aware of the, shall we say, lack of esteem in which they are held by the Washington establishment. Both sides detest him - the mules for his many attacks on the Clintons, and the pachyderms for the fruitlessness of those attacks. Caught between the two, his desperation appears to be getting the better of his discretion.

Hubris takes many forms.

Guess your guy doesn't know the IC statute.

A distinction with a difference:

Independent counsels are different than other Federal prosecutors and the tapes are considered relevant to his inquiry.

Remember, the Republicans did not want to renew that statute even though it could only hurt a Dem president. But now, when their guy is being gored, the same commentators (like your guy) and Dem officials that saw nothing wrong with Walsh's many transgressions now say that something is wrong. They're even quoting Scalia!

Let's face it, there always is a more exacting standard for Republicans.
