multiple monitors... <Does it handle different resolutions or do you set all the graphic cards the same? > this depends on your configuration: 1. for win nt4.0/millenium: this setup requires same resolution for all monitors, however, you may use different frequencies (absolute must: same graphic cards) 2. win98 total flexibility! different cards, different resolutions <Is it just like one large desktop? If you open an application its window might be split between two monitors and then you drag it completely onto one of the monitor screens? < for all configurations available on the market, its like a large desktop which is distributed over all monitors. by adding a monitor you can increase your 'effective' resolution by the resolution of your added monitor. Window behaviour, depends, on your configuration. For example, when you try to maximize your window, under windows NT the window spans all monitors. Under win98, however, when you maximize a window it covers only one monitor. When you start an application, a window may split under WIN NT4.0. If you start a window under Win98 splitting is prevented. <How do you position the different Communicator windows on the multiple screens.> This is a good question. When i first used my multimon environment it was a bit tedious to open all my 12 communicator windows. in the meantime i've written a small utility program which is doing this work automatically: all windows are placed at a predefined position, in a predefined size with a predefined http adress. now i only have to press a single button and my desktop area is covered perfectly with 12 windows without overlapping. of course, all windows have different sizes depending on the content.
