Let it be known that Stockman has provided a very insightful (obvious but still insightful) comment to the thread even it it was surrounded by other stuff I won't mention.

Yes, people is exactly what CPQ is looking for in this merger. This may be a surprise to you but people are the #1 asset of any company. Look at DEC now or XEROX several years ago. Valuable patents and assets galore but the people failed to translate that into successful products in the market. Both oganizations have extremely bright and driven people yet lacked the LEADERSHIP necessary to focus their efforts and provide a roadmap to success. CPQ has proven it has the vision and operational skills that DEC has lacked.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't much of what DEC does sales? Guess what? People sell these very expensive enterprise computer systems and services not just companies. Hey, services - no problem - peole perform those too.

I don't what to downplay all the other company assets that contribute to its success but it all comes back to people.
