The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) published a report Tuesday showing that confirmed Covid-19 cases in US nursing homes are rising rapidly again after a steady decline in June, due to a jump in cases in the general population.

I'm not surprised. Most of the nursing homes have probably only made the easy, relatively inexpensive fixes: Masks, social distancing, restricted access to visitors and adequate PPE for their staff. The lack of adequate PPE is almost a war crime.

They still need to upgrade their infrastructure so that their petri dish-like environments are properly ventilated and, perhaps most importantly, upgrade their health aides and pay them a wage that discourages them from having to work multiple jobs. I suspect that the aides transferred the virus from one nursing home to another.
