D.M. -- interesting snippet from Red Herring Mag: "... While Compaq wouldn't comment on the negotiations -- the deal is undergoing the customary regulatory review -- the merger was all in the family. Compaq has relied on Digital for worldwide services and support since 1995, and both Compaq and Tandem have drawn on Digital's executive talent pool. John Rose, Compaq's senior vice president and group general manager for enterprise computing, left Digital in 1995; Enrico Pesatori joined Tandem as president and chief operating officer in 1996, leaving Digital's Number Two spot after a successful stint in managing that company's desktop PC operations. While Digital CEO Robert Palmer will remain to manage the transition, most observers agree he won't stay long. Will Mr. Rose and Mr. Pesatori, former princes of Digital's realm, storm back to reclaim the castle? ..."

I may be the only one who doesn't know the above. But just in case. Didn't know cpq had used dec service since '95. dulane
