Interesting. I just came back from Costco along the once beautiful tree lined street where I'd drive under a canopy of pine trees to get home where the roots were buckling the road. "They" took out all the trees and started filling the once beautiful part of "Mountain View" with 5 story things to change the city name to "Building View." Funny, many of the EXPENSIVE restaurants and ICON theater that were early occupants are closed. The first big unit charged between $4K and $6K a month for a 2b/2b depending on location and length of lease. Now they have 500 more units across the street "Now Leasing." No businesses on the ground floor that I could see... Facebook on the block has its workers working from home so no reason to pay a fortune to be so close "to work." Same for the Waymo/Alphabet/Google HQ a few blocks away.... and the whole Google plant at the end of the road in Mtn View.... used to gridlock traffic and now I can drive home after windsurfing as if it was a weekend! I hear NY has a problem with Real Estate and I can't imagine anyone foolish enough to want to rent or buy an expensive place in San FranPoopVille as they are defunding the PoPo to give more money to the dangerous districts that we're racists to mention why.... And NOW our state is on fire... I'm surrounded by out of control fires with some friends evacuated and others ready to go (with an offer to use my house if needed.) They closed my windsurfing park last night after I sailed so the rangers can help with the fires in county parks affected by the fires. Firefighters on TV, incident commanders, say they have about half the resources (people and equipment) as they had in past fires due to so many fires at once from the storm we hadn't seen in a decade hitting us with lightning during a drought. Then some fool in the government said the reason trees struck by lighting that smoldered for hours or days before bursting into flames is because we didn't rake the frigging leaves.... How can anyone be optimistic and yet.... SPY is up again today while my portfolio, near a record, is down a tad...
