Agree with you, except that it appears to me that hardware inevitable gets commoditized, and while some software does, the good stuff will deliver superior longer term returns compared to hardware if it’s nurtured properly. Microsoft Office, iPhones and Turbo Tax are three examples that come to mind.

IOT will be huge, but only if/when the software makes it simple to use. To use an overused analogy, I see hardware as the handle and software as the razor blade.
