The problem with your non-explanation is that TX cities have ALWAYS been Democratic run.
Yes, but the state has not been run by Democrats. Most of the California regulations that kill jobs and raise the cost of living have been at the state level.

I hear it from Texans all the time, how they detest ex-pats from California bringing their failed "blue state" policies with them. Same with people in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, etc.
