I wonder what this means for end users and customers... probably some of the slow loading pages I read are a result of this.

Wildfires hindering datacenter server deliveries to California

Logistics for cloud computing datacenter servers in California has also been hampered by wildfires in the area, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

The wildfires have delayed delivery of datacenter servers to California, resulting in a serious push-back in server installation at many local datacenter operators, the sources said.

Despite the delays, cloud computing service providers in the US will continue expanding their datacenters in the remaining months of 2020, with research firm Gartner estimating an annual growth of 13.4% in public cloud operators' spending in infrastructure as a service (IaaS) sector to reach US$50.4 billion.

California's logistics system for server products had been previously hindered by pandemic lockdowns, the sources noted.

Meanwhile, passive components and power management ICs are still in short supply because of the pandemic lockdowns in many countries, and the shortages are unlikely to ease until later in fourth-quarter 2020, the sources pointed out.
