Bill: A MOST COGENT POST
I am just a poor lurker here...but having read this thread for
some time now IMHO you have hit the key - "with Jobs using
his own head, no way. If he gets sound advice it might work."
How right you are. Have never owned a share of Apple. It's
not the price that has worried me - it's the management........
Who's actually running the co.? What are the goals? Where
does the co. see itself in 5 years? (The brand name has all
ready been mostly pissed away.) What about all those laid-
off engineers and R&D folks? Some weren't even fired as
I recall - they quit. As Costello said to Abbot - "WHO'S ON
FIRST?
Best,
Don

Bill,

There have been rumors floating around that Apple is interested in using the Merced chip. Since this chip has a different architecture than Pentiums, everyone will be forced to upgrade software for it.
Seems likely that if Apple is thinking about using Intel chips this would be a good time to jump ship. The rumors also put pressure IBM, which is good for Apples position. Don't forget the copper chips are just around the corner. And Rhapsody will run on multiple systems, in one form or another.

The future is fuzzy. Big players hold secrets.

...It is true that the fastest Apples beat the fastest pentium IIs, but how long will that continue as
Motorola has slowed is development work in that area, and there are no others carrying the
ball(as good as Motorola was). The Pentium II will be at 400-500 Mhz this years and there are
faster ones in the pipeline that will go to 1000 Mhz by 2000, +,-"
